Do you have broad technical knowledge, and would you like to work with advanced (offshore) equipment? Do you like variety in your work, do you want to independently assemble and test, and do you enjoy giving training to our customers at home and abroad? Then we are looking for you for the role of Service Technician within our organization!
Monday morning. Cheerfully you step into the service hall. You immediately get to work on a customer’s scheduled service. You can really enjoy it when it’s successful, because the systems you work with are complex. Next month you’ll even leave for a foreign country to give training to the operators there on how to use this machine. It’s not often you get on the plane yourself, so you’re looking forward to it. Carefully you inspect the machine. Every operation and test contribute to the flawless running of this unit.
While you’re tinkering with concentration, an urgent call comes in. A malfunction in one of the machines. Whether you guys can fix this. The service coordinator makes sure you can get to work right away, because not much later the machine is ready for you. Fortunately, you find the solution in no time: a disturbance in the control technology. It’s a quick fix and, thanks to you, the customer has a working machine again within an hour. He is impressed: “Thanks, great that I can use the machine again right away!”
About the position
- As a Service Technician, you are the person when it comes to maintenance, service, testing and commissioning of new and already operational machines.
- No two days are the same for you. One day you are taking delivery of a new machine and the next day you are performing regular maintenance on a Track-Truck that is several years old.
- You are all-round in the field of mechanics and hydraulics, but also know how to manage when it comes to electrical engineering.
- Every week you work on a service assignment. Such an assignment varies from fixed checks to problems or malfunctions.
- You will coordinate with the service coordinator, but you will also search for and solve malfunctions independently.
- Several times a year you will provide training and instructions to our customers, both in-house and abroad.

Colleague Jasper tells us about being a Service Technician at A.P. van den Berg
“Hi, I’m Jasper. When you join us in the workshop, we become colleagues. I started as an intern at A.P. van den Berg. During my internship I became very enthusiastic and got the chance to stay here. In the two years that I have been working here I have learned a lot about the technology in our machines. The challenge and specialism of our technology is what makes working here so much fun. In addition, we have a nice team of specialists here, which you too can become part of.
In our assembly hall we are close to the service hall and we are busy making the systems of our probing machines and working on the complete construction of the machine. But that’s not all. Besides building up, we also do the repairs and maintenance of our machines. This happens both in the factory and on location, in the Netherlands but also worldwide, onshore and offshore!”
